A program that returns to the Catholic tradition of teaching children to know, love and serve God. The program focuses on catechetical instruction (knowledge), worship and prayer (love), and evangelization and vocation (service).
The Kindergarten Student Book has 24 core lessons on tear-out pages, family pages to take home, seven seasonal celebrations, 16 punch-out craft pages and A Little Catechism. Student Books have three Parts. The first is Know, Love and Serve: A Little Catechism, offering basic prayers to learn, catechism questions and answers to memorize, seasonal feasts to celebrate, and examples of service to read about. The second part presents 24 core lessons, each divided into five teaching segments. The third part is a basic Catholic glossary in both English and Spanish. Each chapter has project pages to reinforce each lesson and concludes with Review/Home pages that can be torn from the book and taken home.
Catechist Guides include color-coded, three-part wraparound lesson plans that follow a format of invitation, discovery and living. They also provide lesson background information for the personal faith formation of the teacher. Catechist guides also provide planning and scheduling calendars, strategies for teaching A Little Catechism, a “Catechetical Toolbox” full of hints, reminders, and craft ideas, and reproducible activity sheets and chapter tests. Music CDs feature all the music used in program lessons and celebrations with vocal and instrumental tracks for every song. The grade-level Storykeepers Videos have six Bible story segments from the life of Jesus for classes to view at the beginning of each unit. An Interactive Lesson Planner CD-ROM provides schedules, extra activities, a test generator and other resources in both English and Spanish. Home is a family magazine that updates parents on the sacraments, the liturgical year and Catholic practices. It also gives suggestions for family prayer and activities.
