Faith First Legacy 1-6, RCL Benziger
This is the School Edition.
For the parish edition of Faith First Legacy, click on the Preschool-12 Parish Programs tab at the top of this page.
The Legacy Edition uses a spiral learning method that teaches the same truths at every grade level and includes doctrine lessons based on the four pillars of the Catechism.
Student Books cover three themes—Doctrine: Our Beliefs, Scripture: Our Stories, and the Liturgical Year: Our Celebrations. They develop religious literacy and integrate faith and life. Each chapter includes Faith Focus, Faith Vocabulary, profiles of Faith-Filled People, and explanations of Catholic traditions. A detachable page in each chapter offers a way to partner with parents.
Teacher Manuals include background, Quickstarts for Catechists, five-day lesson plans, teaching tips and enrichment activities. The Religion Coordinator Manual provides everything needed to implement the school program with ideas for parent meetings and teacher in-service days. The manual includes reproducible handouts and a Quickstart DVD to introduce the program.
Other program components include Class Kits for each grade with reproducible, grade-level assessment tools, activities, the Called to Prayer book, and a copy of The Faith-Filled Classroom. The Art and Environment Package contains 18 posters, seven banners and six packs of 50 pass-along cards, enough material for six classes (Grades 1-6). Videos in VHS format from the Faith First Original Edition (© 2000 - 03) also work with the Faith First Legacy Edition. The At Home Family Guide gives lesson plans for the 27 topics covered in the program. Small parishes or home programs can put students in mixed age groups, using the guide for lesson plans and individual student books at varying grade levels.
Faith First Legacy, 1-6 is approved by the Bishops’ Committee. (©2005-06)
